So what have I been listening to/playing lately?
Ha! Good question :)
You can't just say, "House" or even "Techno" without having to go into a lengthly explanation of exactly what sub-genres of it you love, like, dislike or disdain. House as a genre, has expanded to encompass and reinterpret all the other styles of electronic, vocal and instrument
based music. I'm loving the minimal movement a lot, especially since it incorporates a lot of the IDM sensibility. Techno seems to wear 2 faces now, and that's pretty much established and reported as a fact. The 2 opposite ends of the pole are pretty easy to identify, but where do they meet, are you a Type 1 or a Type 2 Techno person? Where on the scale would you have to be to be labeled as either? =;->
Breaks is Breaks, and I still love 'em!
The rise of dub step/grime step/ all around deeeep basss and beats and chill far-out vibes hasn't been totally unexpected. I've been always on the lookout for these, and noticed an uptick in what was available a few months before dancerecords stopped carrying vinyl.
On the Experimental/Downbeat/etc tip, I need recommendations.
What's up with the DJ?
I have an Ambient compilation of sorts project in the works.
If you have a track that is both complex yet simple and hauntingly memorable,
then I'd love to hear it!
Where and when can you hear me?
I play out occasionally in the Philadelphia/New York area and beyond.
You can see me spinning live on the Internet!
